UKRAINE – WORLDVENTURE
Eric and Beth have been facilitating multiplication church planting in eastern Ukraine since 1995 in a ministry that saw 26 churches planted throughout the provinces of Lugansk and Donetsk. Their ministry included vision casting, recruiting, training, and mentoring young men with leadership skills as the men planted churches. Their goal was to have an evangelical church for every 5,000 people living in eastern Ukraine by the year 2020. In 2014, their work was interrupted by the military conflict with Russia.
They have now returned to the Ukraine and live in the capital city of Kiev. They minister together with the national church leadership facilitating multiplication church planting throughout the 22 remaining provinces which are still under Ukrainian control. This includes researching current trends in Ukrainian church movements and evaluation of methods of outreach. They work closely with national church leadership to locate the places where churches are needed most and to create persuasive presentations that will help shape the future of Ukrainian church planting. They are also helping the leader of the Baptist Union’s church planting committee in the start up of a new church planter training/mentoring program. They have been able to help a number of IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons like local refugees) from eastern Ukraine as they have been transplanted to other regions.
- For winter and holiday outreaches coming up in December and January throughout Ukraine.
- For the new church planter networks starting up in both Kiev and Odessa.
- For the continued church planter training that they recently “beefed up.”
- For strength, health and safety during the long, cold winter ahead.
- For the ability to stay focused in a multi-faceted ministry.
