The refugee crisis in Europe is a desperate situation. Thousands of people fled their home countries seeking a better life, only to find themselves now stuck within closed borders and mounds of red tape. While they fled war-torn areas and incredibly life-threatening situations, now they are still without much hope as they sit within the confines of tent-lined refugee camps.
One redeeming aspect of the situation is that God is using the crisis to reach people who have never heard the truth about Jesus Christ. All they’ve ever known is darkness, but they’re getting exposure to the light for the first time. Churches and ministry partners are reporting unprecedented numbers of people who are hearing the gospel and responding to it. Hallelujah!
The need for acts of mercy is great, as well as for methods to reach the refugees with the gospel. But you might wonder, “How can we respond when we’re oceans apart?” There are immediate, tangible ways churches, ministries, small groups, Sunday School classes, and/or individuals can get involved. We’ve put together a library of real stories and opportunities that exist in Greece and Finland. At the end of each video, there are email addresses and/or websites that we encourage you to go to for more information.
We don’t see our role as an intermediary of funds or the coordinator of volunteers. We simply are sharing stories and opening doors you can connect with these European ministries in deep need. However, if you’d like us to help or answer questions, email us: firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, if you’d like to donate to an already designated Europe Refugee Crisis fund, click here.
