Two of the questions I get every year when we do Thanksgiving boxes are, “How many years have we done this?” and “How many boxes did we do?” I’m not sure of the exact year CSPC started, but I do know it was more than 20 years ago. As strange as it seems, I never really know the total number of boxes from year-to-year. I know how many we plan to do, and I know how many we order, but because of the generosity of our members, we always end up doing way more than we plan. And, it always seems to end up being just exactly what we need.
On distribution day this year, we had a CSPC member call and see if we had an extra box she could take to someone in need. At the time, we didn’t have the box. But an hour later, someone brought an extra box in, and about the same time, someone came in with a turkey they had bought and ask if we needed it. That is how God provides!
Since I will be retiring in August of 2018, this was my last year to coordinate the distribution of the boxes. As I look back over the years, I am so grateful for all of the members and volunteers who have made this possible. Their generosity and care for our community is amazing and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to work with everyone all of these years. Thank you Cedar Springs for sharing the love of Christ with so many! I am thankful!
